Why we started Enao Vision
Quality problems cost manufacturers 15-20% of their revenue, and this is a global issue world wide. This limits growth while creating unnecessary waste and carbon emissions — all costs to companies and the planet.
Prior to building Enao Vision, our team spent years working with global companies like OTIS and Carrier as well as SME manufacturers, developing customised AI solutions to improve operations and business efficiency. The projects we worked on showed time again that manufacturing quality was an issue that needed to be addressed. Yet, the issue remained unsolved because:
a) sensor giants offer expensive systems that are complex and slow to deploy
b) AI startups use new technology but aren't simple or affordable
Both of these types of solutions are costly and risky for companies, especially SMEs that need to see the results of their investments in days, not months. Yet, SMEs employ over half of all manufacturing workers and continue to power global economies: we believe in serving them.

Why introduce smartphone-based automated inspection?
We believe in empowering the people directly working on the production floor to make their work easier, smoother, and faster. Existing solutions are sold top-down to upper and middle management. Our experience with manufacturers shows that the current generation of shopfloor managers wants to drive change from the bottom up. They just need tools that are within their given budgets, simple, and easy to install to show management, as well as run and maintain for their teams. This means we build our solution based on our guiding principle of consumer-grade user experience paired with enterprise-grade performance.
Mobile-native quality assurance
Our system runs entirely on consumer grade smartphones such as the iPhone, removing the need for custom hardware and enabling deployment in minutes. Users can download the app and interact with the system immediately after signup. Enao Vision is designed to be as intuitive as the apps people use daily. We deliver a “just works” experience. Enao Vision uses AI to autonomously adapt to each manufacturer’s products, defects, and environments with minimal user input.
Is user-centricity industrial grade?
When companies are accustomed to solutions with customised hardware like industrial cameras, it’s worth asking the basic question: Is a smartphone good enough? Are shopfloor staff willing to try solutions before getting in-depth trainings from providers? The answer is yes and yes.
High-end smartphones like the iPhone have proven for years the image quality can be on billboards. This is sufficient for many shopfloor requirements. When operators are aware of what conditions affect image quality, such as lighting, they can achieve the same results with far more lightweight equipment than specialised cameras for machine vision systems that are often over-engineered for simple tasks and costly to maintain.
Will manufacturers adopt new solutions?
We’ve been told that self-service doesn’t work in factories. Our early customers prove otherwise. Shopfloor managers prefer to install and manage systems themselves. They don't lack hardware skills - they lack intelligent software. After downloading the Enao Vision app for free, our customers navigate through our onboarding and can begin doing quality inspection within an average of 6 hours.
Within 4 weeks of launch, we’ve scanned over 11 million products for our customers. The numbers are only growing. We’ve seen that manufacturers are not lacking the drive to improve – they must. Companies that haven’t yet adopted existing solutions largely hold back due to common sense: why invest in something that is costly and may not work? In 2025, that shouldn’t be the case anymore. Whether it’s a shopfloor manager or a manager in a family business, everyone should be able to quickly access and test a solution to see how it can work in their production environment.
